It looks like their may be hope for marijuana’s legalization across the country after all.
According to a new Gallup survey, nearly 60 percent of Americans support the legalization of weed for recreational use. This in itself is significant, considering the fact that the first Gallup survey regarding marijuana legalization for recreational purposes only yielded 12 percent of people in favor of it. The first-ever Gallup survey on the issue was taken more than 40 years ago in 1969.

Within the last year, Washington and Colorado have both legalized the recreational use of marijuana, but the country’s remaining states have yet to follow suit.
According to the Gallup survey, the biggest supporters of weed’s legalization are within the age group of 18 to 29 years old (67 percent). Next up are individuals is the age bracket of 30 to 49 years old; 62 percent of Americans within this age range support marijuana legalization. Also, 56 percent of those between the ages of 50 and 64 years old are in favor of weed’s legalization. The only age group still in opposition to weed being used recreationally are those 65 years old and up; 45 percent of individuals within this age realm support weed’s legalization.
