On December 16th, 2011, Slim Dunkin was murdered after getting into an altercation with another rapper over candy. Dunk was at a recording studio in East Atlanta preparing to shoot a video with Gucci Mane when he was accused of taking pieces of candy from the studio’s refreshment area without purchase.
The other man involved in the altercation was Vinson “Young Vito” Hardimon, who is also named in Hamilton's lawsuit. He confronted Slim Dunkin about the candy, which led to a fight between the two. Subsequent to their scuffle and separation from each other, Slim reportedly charged at Young Vito. In response, Vito pulled out a handgun and shot Slim once in the chest. He was transported to Atlanta’s Grady Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Vito was later tried in court for the occurrence and charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm in commission of a felony. Earlier this year, he was acquitted of the murder charge, but found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a handgun during a felony. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Vito recently appeared before a Fulton County Superior Court judge in Atlanta and requested to have his sentence reduced. Check out footage below.
Aside from being named as a defendant in Hamilton's lawsuit, Gucci Mane is currently incarcerated awaiting sentencing on federal gun charges. If convicted, he could spend up to 20 years in prison.
